Importantance Why is it Important?

The immediate risks posed due to changes in environment affect us all. While many organisations and people want to take action to combat climate change, they may lack the information or resources needed to begin mobilising for positive change.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change seeks to align organisations’ efforts to adopt adaptation measures or mitigation approaches with national goals.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s Environmental Sustainability portal seeks to provide support and guidance to any organization voluntarily wishing to take a more effective role in mitigating the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.  


Portal Aim

The Environmental Sustainability portal aims to foster a collaborative approach that helps align all sectors in Qatar to help achieve the nation’s environment and climate change goals.

  • By providing guidance for the five priority areas defined in the QNECCS, the Environment Sustainability portal will allow the country’s private and public sector to address the most pressings environmental risks that face Qatar and the world.
  • Sector-specific frameworks, drawn from international best practices, international reporting standards and local expertise will encourage organisations in all sectors in Qatar to contribute to achieving national environmental goals.
  • In order to ensure maximum engagement, the initiative will provide guidelines to the following sectors in Qatar:
